Day of Caring 2013

On September 10, the United Way Day of Caring brought out over 320 volunteers from 54 companies and organizations, adopting 77 projects for various nonprofit agencies in Marshall County. Hospice of Marshall County is both a partner and a supported agency of United Way, so while we received some much needed help from community, we gave back by gathering supplies for the Child Advocacy Center, the Foster and Adoptive Parents Association and James' House, collecting phone cards for the American red Cross, and some of our staff read to children at local schools.

Karen Denton, our Volunteer Manager, coordinating with volunteers.
Clay Irrigation took on an adopt-a-yard project for five of our patients.

Employees from HFI, Inc. took on house-hold chores and yard work for a few of our patients.

Progress Rail, accompanied by Linda Hodgens (HMC Volunteer, 2nd from left) prepared
and delivered TLC bags to eight patients' homes.
HMC Employees collected supplies for the Child Advocacy Center, the Foster
and Adoptive Parents Association, James' House and the Red Cross.
Mike Price from Citizens Bank & Trust (Albertville) washed windows at Shepherd's Cove.

Allison Jacobs from HMC read to students at a local elementary school.

Employees from CAJA (Court Appointed Juvenile Advocates) weeded flower beds around Shepherd's Cove.

Employees from CAJA and Regions Bank Guntersville gathered with the HMC Volunteer Department in the Community Room at HMC before kicking off Day of Caring projects.

THANK YOU to everyone who volunteered for Hospice of Marshall County and to the employees of HMC who gave their time or donations to charities within our community! It's so great to live in a community where so many are willing to give their time to meaningful causes.
